Youth Forum: Neurodiversity campaign

We’re very proud of the young people in our Youth Forum for their amazing work on their ‘Being neurodivergent in school’ campaign.

They have conducted peer research across BANES, and written a short report and toolkit for local mainstream primary and secondary schools, with research-led recommendations and guidance on what would improve neurodivergent pupils’ experience of school.

Ivy (aged 14), the Youth Forum participant leading on the campaign, says: ‘All children should have equal access to education. We really hope that BANES mainstream primary and secondary schools will act on our achievable, evidence-based recommendations, to improve neurodivergent pupils’ experience of school. Even just making one of the four changes should help to reduce absences and increase engagement in lessons.’

To make the findings and recommendations as accessible as possible, there is a 1-page summary of the report, and an audio version of the summary - links below.
