MYP and Youth Forum for B&NES

The Youth Forum is for young people aged 11-18.  Members of The Youth Forum are young people from across B&NES. It is a non-party political group – which is run by Off the Record.

The project gives young people the opportunity to make a positive contribution. It provides an inclusive and supportive environment for members to develop their skills, knowledge, confidence and creative thinking.

Members work together with an elected Member of Youth Parliament (MYP) and Deputy MYP to make a difference through projects and campaigns. For more information about how MYPs are elected click here.

The Youth Forum consults other young people and uses response from events such as National Make Your Mark Ballot and the Young Parliament Day to highlight the issues faced by young people and to help inform their campaigns.  The group gives young people the chance to communicate their views to professionals/ decision-makers.

The group are involved in helping to facilitate the UK Youth Parliament Elections for B&NES.

The B&NES Youth Forum is a participation project that is underpinned by Article 12 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, which states that young people have the right to have their voices heard in decisions that affect them, directly and indirectly.
