Marathon team raise record funds for young people in need

What do you get when you mix a bunch of runner beans with a horse, two vinyl records and a group of dedicated runners? Team Off the Record – an amazing and altruistic bunch of people who worked hard and really gave it their all at the Bath Half Marathon yesterday to raise much needed funds for Off the Record.

The team of 13 runners came from far and wide (including London, Wales and we even had a South African!) to participate in one of the city’s most popular and well known events. Not shy of fancy dress, many members of the team came ready to hit the pavements with impact – with one donning a horse’s head and tail, others dressed in green tutus, and one pair even rocked up in a specially designed vinyl record outfit made just for the occasion.

The team were a special and rare group and had more in common than they originally realised – with two runners (who didn’t previously know each other) even both being one part of a set of mirror identical twins!

More than 12,000 people in total finished the tough course last weekend (Sunday 13th March) that winds around the beautiful city of Bath – and all of our team members were amongst those who crossed that final line. Many runners from the team reached the finish in record time – and all worked hard to raise funds for local young people in need.

The total raised so far from the whole team is over £2,000 and this number continues to grow. The funds raised will go towards helping Off the Record provide vital services such as counselling, listening support and specialist youth groups to young people in need – services that are often a lifeline for people in the Bath and North East Somerset area.
